Student Representative Associations
Student Representative Associations (SRAs) are the official representatives of its membership to your UASU. In addition to advocacy, they also provide services to their students and coordinate social events. Their constituency can range from international students to students within a given faculty to students living in campus residence, whatever it may be, they are each unique in their innate understanding of the students they represent.
SRA categories
Faculty Associations
Faculty Associations (FAs) represent and provide services to all their faculty's students. They are an important part of the campus community, both socially and politically. When taken together, they represent the concerns and perspectives of each individual student faculty at the University, which serves as powerful representation for students across the U of A.
FA executives are elected by the students in their faculty each year.
Department Associations
Department Associations represent and provide services to all students enrolled in their department. Many of them also include members who take courses in their department, or who are interested in the subject matter their department covers. They represent their students to their Department, Faculty Association, and the Students’ Union.
Residence Associations
Residence Associations represent and provide services to all students living in their residence. They represent the students to Residence Services, the Students’ Union, and the Graduate Students’ Association.
When you move into your residence, you become a member of your Residence Association. A membership fee may be applied to your Residence Account upon acceptance of your Room Offer or at the beginning of the academic semester.
Other Student Representative Associations
Other student representative associations also represent and provide services to all their students within their constituency.
