About The Landing
The Landing is a Students' Union service at the University of Alberta main campus that offers support for gender and sexual diversity. We strive to promote gender equity on a broad scale, and advocate for the safety and acceptance of individuals of all genders and sexualities in campus life. As part of this mandate, we support LGBTQ2S+ communities and individuals as well as their supporters, friends, family and loved ones.
Visit Us In Person
We are ecstatic to announce that we have reopened our in-person space! Our hours are 12-4 Monday to Thursday. During these times, you can use our space to just hang out with other queer folks, to study, to get one-on-one support, to take out books from our lending library, to access resources and referrals, etc! If you need one-on-one support, we encourage you to book an appointment, but walk ins are still welcome! We are using appointment booking as a COVID precaution to ensure that even if the space is at capacity that we can still provide support. It can also be used to request to be matched up with a volunteer who speaks your language or who shares an identity group with you. To request an appointment, use this link!
Visit Us On Discord
On our server, you'll be able to request one-on-one peer support, participate in queer chatrooms, attend programs and events, access resources and referrals, join private identity group channels, and more! While the queer chatrooms are open 24/7, one-on-one support is available from 12-4 Monday to Thursday. All of our regularly scheduled programming will be on Discord this year to limit the amount of folks joining us in person, so stay tuned for dates in October! We strive to promote gender equity on a broad scale, and advocate for the safety and acceptance of individuals of all genders and sexualities in campus life.
The Landing's mission is to effect meaningful change in the quality of life of students at the University of Alberta who are marginalized on the basis of gender and/or sexuality, by providing support services that are available for all students, and by promoting student-led initiatives to address the needs of LGBTQIA+ communities at the U of A and beyond. These goals rest on four key pillars: Visibility, Support, Inclusivity, and Community.
