Where involvement begins.
Student Group Services is a service of the Students’ Union intended specifically for the support and management of student groups on campus. SGS is responsible for overseeing the registration of groups with the University, the Graduate Students Association, and Students’ Union. The Student Group Services Staff consists of one full-time Program Lead and one full-time Assistant Program Lead.
To actively support and develop the members of student groups so they can function at a high level and consequently contribute to forming a well rounded, positive, vibrant, and creative campus community.
Josh Connauton, Program Lead :: email@example.com
Josh Connauton is extremely excited to be in the role of Program Lead! He recently received his BA Double Major in History and Anthropology from the University of Alberta. He loves working with students to promote student involvement on campus, and is actually old hat with the SU. While he was a student, he worked with Student Orientation as a Coordinator. One of Josh's favourite parts of the University of Alberta is the warm and welcoming sense of community among students, staff, and faculty members - in fact, this sense of community is what has kept Josh around campus after graduating. Things that bring him joy in life are the Montreal Canadiens, writing (specifically on sports and politics), spending time with his family, and Tokyo Police Club. Josh brings a wonderful energy to Student Group Services, and is excitedly anticipating great things to come in 2015-2016.
Kristin LaGrange, Assistant Program Lead :: firstname.lastname@example.org
Kristin LaGrange is the Assistant Program Lead for the second academic year in a row! She completed her Bachelor of Arts in 2015, with an English major and Creative Writing minor. She loved being involved with many student groups during undergrad, including a choir, a fraternity, and a faculty association, so she feels perfectly at home with Student Group Services. She also worked at the Centre for Writers on campus, so she's no stranger to helping students both in groups and one-on-one. Some of Kristin's favourite things are her vast collection of tea, her bookcase full of comics, novels, and autobiographies, and grilled cheese sandwiches. You might sometimes find her doing work in the new SUB atrium with a mug of tea, lounging in the sunshine.
