Student Group Awards

Recognizing students who make outstanding contributions to the campus community.

The following are awards that are administered by Student Group Services. Applications for these awards will tentatively open in August 2015.

Student Group of the Year

This award is presented to the student group that has made the greatest overall contribution to University life and has made a positive difference in the lives of its members.

Number of Awards:

  • 1 award each year

Value of Each Award:

  • $300
  • One free day at Clubs Fair

Conditions:

  • Must be currently registered with Student Group Services

Best Student Group Event of the Year

This award is presented to the student group responsible for the planning and running of an event on or off of campus that is deemed to have made a great contribution to the University environment.

Number of Awards:

  • 1 award each year

Value of Each Award:

  • $150 Prize
  • One free day at Clubs Fair

Conditions:

  • Must be currently registered with Student Group Services
  • Event must have been approved by the Office of the Dean of Students

Student Group Academic Services Excellence

This award is presented to the Faculty Association or Academic/Departmental Student Group that has made an outstanding contribution to its student members in terms of academic services and has an active role in the academic life of its students.

Number of Awards:

  • 1 award each year

Value of Each Award:

  • $150 Prize
  • One free day at Clubs Fair

Conditions:

  • Must be currently registered with Student Group Services
  • Group must have a primarily academic mandate

Student Group Community Outreach

This award is given to the student group that has made the greatest overall effort to involve both its members and our University in the local and/or international community.

Number of Awards:

  • 1 award each year

Value of Each Award:

  • $150 Prize
  • One free day at Clubs Fair

Conditions:

  • Must be currently registered with Student Group Services

Most Promising New Student Group

This award is given to a group in their first year of operations that has the most potential to make an impact on the campus community.

Number of Awards:

  • 1 award each year

Value of Each Award:

  • $150 Prize
  • One free day at Clubs Fair

Conditions:

  • Must be currently registered with Student Group Services
  • Must have registered for the first time not earlier than April 30th, 2015.

Student Group Progress Award

Established to recognize student groups that have made significant progress over the year by advancing their mandate, increasing membership, developing resources and more. The successful group will be awarded $1000 to be used in its operations.

Number of Awards:

  • 1 award each year

Value of Each Award:

  • $1000

Conditions:

  • Include a report detailing progress from last year; promotion techniques, events held or planning to hold, comparison of repeated events, resources acquisition etc.
  • Must be registered with Student Group Services.
