Your Campus Connection
Delivering tightly-wrapped hot meals and food bank hampers to families throughout Edmonton through our "community food truck" program.
Volunteer drivers are assigned addresses in relative proximity to one another, grouped by area of the city (northeast, south, downtown, etc.) to make the task easier.
Volunteers are reimbursed $10/day for gas expenses (canavua.org/PDFs/volunteer_reimbursement_form.pdf).
We typically meet on Wednesdays at 11:45 A.M. at our community food truck. The food truck will be parked at one of two locations:
1) The intersection of 91 Street and 83 Ave. (one block north of Whyte Ave. and very close to the Campus Saint-Jean). Postal code: T6C 1B6.
2) The Value Village at the intersection of Fort Road and 137 Ave. (where Fort Road becomes Manning Drive, at the southwest corner of the intersection). Exact address: 13530 Fort Road NW, T5A 1C5.
We will be sure to let you know where the food truck will be parked well in advance.
Please sign up by email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and by filling out our online volunteer registration form: https://www.canavua.org/inscription
Filling out this form will help us to keep in touch with you more easily and notify you of the food truck schedule.
CBC and CTV recently published great articles about our food truck initiative. We've also uploaded footage of our volunteers in action on our YouTube channel:
CANAVUA's community food truck is an initiative to provide people struggling financially in Edmonton with hot, healthy and FREE meals, either in person (at our food truck) or by home delivery, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
We're very grateful to all our volunteer drivers. As our food truck becomes increasingly popular, we need more drivers to keep up with the growing demand. Many thanks in advance!
Valid Class 5 G.D.L. licence (or higher).
English- and French-speakers are both welcome!
All training will be provided on-site.
By delivering hot meals and food bank hampers to people in need in Edmonton, you will make a huge difference in the lives of low-income families and individuals, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Letters of reference (in English or in French) are provided to all volunteers upon request. Volunteers are also invited to attend our volunteer recognition ceremony during National Volunteer Week every April, during which a local dignitary, usually an MLA or provincial cabinet minister, hands out certificates of recognition to all of CANAVUA's volunteers.
