Vision, Mission, Values

We believe a sustainable world is possible, and that universities are responsible to actively strive towards its creation. Thus we envision, a university that perpetuates the sustainability principles of ecological health, social justice, and economic equality. We endeavour to foster a community where every member is empowered to create sustainable change.

Our Mission is to foster a community of leaders and change agents who incorporate sustainable ideas and actions into their lives, university experience and in their communities.

By offering services, peer-to-peer learning opportunities, and community engagement activities that are inclusive, collaborative and innovative.
To actively collaborate with sustainability minded organizations and engage students that are not currently involved in sustainability initiatives We provide support as well as access to information and resources to help students explore and create sustainability-related initiatives and improve existing efforts. To accomplish this we work closely with the Office of Sustainability. We work to advance the sustainability of the Students’ Union’s operations through the Sustainable Engagement Research Committee (SERC).

Sustain SU’s values guide our actions and assist in setting the strategic direction of the organization.

Inclusivity and Safe Spaces - Our spaces are safe gathering places for all people. We welcome everyone's ideas, contributions, and participation. We value and embrace diversity and individuality. We do not tolerate discrimination of any kind or the language associated with it.

Community and Collaboration - We believe that fostering strong relationships is key to developing a healthy community. We aim to collaborate with a diverse range of student groups and community partners to ensure the SustainSU continues to thrive.
