Your Campus Connection
Located in Cuenca, this project benefits low income children and teenagers, whose parents are unable to provide them with sufficient care and attention at home. The project helps children ages 5 to 16 years old by providing a safe place where they can eat lunch, do their homework, watch TV, participate in recreational activities and sports, take computer lessons, join art workshops, and much more.
The volunteers will be helping the children with their homework and will support the staff in organizing different recreational activities. The volunteers are expected to be able to teach or help with Math, English and some other subjects that the children are learning. At noon, the volunteers will assist in preparing and serving lunch for an estimated 100 children.
Duration of the project: The project is running during the school year, from September to June. Minimum commitment required is 2 months, up to 10 months.
Accommodation: Accommodation is provided in local host families.
Location: Cuenca is the third-largest city in Ecuador and the capital of the Azuay Province. It is located in the Highlands, at about 2500 m above sea level. For its rich historical heritage, Cuenca was declared one of Ecuador's three UNESCO World Heritage sites (the other two are Quito and the Galapagos Islands).

A volunteer experience may give you ideas or a push in deciding your professional aspirations - one of the most important and difficult decisions one should make in life. It can make stronger your motivation or give you additional inspiration in what you are studying or working. And most important, by being a volunteer you gain the hands-on experience you will hardly get at lectures or at the office desk. In a workcamp you can have such an involving and inspiring time!
After successful participation CADIP issues a certificate for the completed volunteer hours.
