Welcome to the Residence Association Opt Out System

Residence Associations consist of a group of elected students that advocate on behalf of the resident students and put on different events to support community building within the residence. The Residence Association Fee goes towards funding free or subsidized events and activities organized by your Residence Association.

The Residence Association Fee is a non-mandatory fee, and you are able to opt-out of it if you choose to. If you opt out, please note that:

  • You will lose subsidized pricing for events organized by your Residence Association. For specifics, please contact your Residence Association directly. You might also lose some perks/access to events that are specific to Residence Association members.
  • You will not be able to vote for your Residence Association Representatives in the elections.

Because these fees are only assessed to undergraduate students living in their respective residence, refunds are only provided to students living in residence. If you do not live in a University of Alberta residence, or if you are a graduate student, you will not be assessed this fee.

Once the opt-out deadline for a fee has passed, no further opt-outs of the fee are permitted.

IMPORTANT:

  • Opt-outs will be processed within a month of the opt-out deadline.
  • The refunds will be deposited to your ONEcard account and not your residence account.
  • Make sure to pay all fees (including the Residence Association Fee) on your Residence Account.

If you qualify for an opt out, it will be automatically applied to your ONEcard account within thirty days of the opt-out deadline.

By opting out of a fee, you might lose access to the services provided under the fee. Please confirm with the services provider directly for details.

Double-check that your Student ID# and your CCID are both entered correctly. If either your Student ID number or CCID are entered incorrectly, you will not receive your refund and we will be unable to notify you of the error.

By submitting this request, you are authorizing the University of Alberta Students' Union to access relevant records to confirm your enrolment status and fees assessment.

FALL 2019

This fee, assessed to undergraduates in most residences in East Campus Village, Lister Hall, Residence Saint Jean, Newton Place, and HUB, supports academic, social and wellness programming and events provided throughout the year by the Residence Association. The Residence Association also provides representation and advocacy about resident concerns. THIS FEE IS ONLY CHARGED TO RESIDENTS LIVING IN UNIVERSITY OF ALBERTA RESIDENCE. The opt-out is available only to students who moved into residence after September, and will only be refunded for the Winter semester portion of the fee.
