Special Liquor Orders
This page provides information for events NOT hosted at Room at the Top or any other SU venue. Liquor service for any events hosted at an SU venue is managed directly by the SU.
Room at the Top is licensed by the University to provide alcohol for on-campus functions that are operating under the University's institutional liquor licence.
Student-Organized Events: Prior to requesting alcohol from Room at the Top, student groups must submit events for approval to the Dean of Students Office through BearsDen, and ensure there are at least two members with up-to-date Event Organizer Training. Once your event is approved, you will receive a liquor permit from the Dean of Students Office, which you need in order to purchase alcohol from Room at the Top. Click here for more information.
Staff/Institutional Events: Prior to requesting alcohol from Room at the Top, U of A employees must submit events for approval through Ancillary Services' online application form. Once your event is approved, you will receive a liquor permit from Ancillary Services, which you need in order to purchase alcohol from Room at the Top. Click here for more information.
Please be aware that you must display both your liquor permit and your Room at the Top invoice in a prominent place at your event.
Due to limited storage space, Room at the Top can only supply certain brands of beer, wine, or liquor. Special orders can be made by request, but limitations apply.
Please email email@example.com with:
- The name of the group ordering liquor.
- The date of the event.
- The types & quantities of alcohol you are requesting.
- How you will be paying for your order (Room at the Top accepts cheques, cash, Visa, MasterCard and indents). DO NOT include credit card information in your email.
We will contact you with confirmation and will answer any questions you may have at that point. Because of limited order dates for stock, a minimum of two weeks is required to properly process your order and ensure we can provide stock.
All orders are picked up at the SUB loading dock, located at the north end of SUB. Pickup arrangements for liquor orders can be made during your order. All unopened product must be returned to Room at the Top within two business days of the event for refund. Returned items are subject to a 15% restocking fee.
