My name is Alex Kwan, a first-year pharmacy student. I am re-running to be the SU and GFC Representative for pharmacy. The reason I am seeking a second term is mainly because of the extension of the tuition freeze announced during Fall of 2016 that hindered my original advocacy goals. With discussions of the MMF expected to begin later this spring, I am confident that I will be able to represent the voices and interests of pharmacy students to the university and government.

There are three objectives I hope to achieve if re-elected: 1. Faculty Representation: If elected, I am committed to attending all meetings as well as serving as the liaison between the SU, the faculty, and APSA Council. 2. Student Advocacy: If re-elected, I hope to work closely with the SU Executives and APSA to ensure proper consultation is completed and that our voices are heard by the main decision-makers of the MMF. 3. Student Engagement: To stay engaged with pharmacy students, I hope to continue sending regular Students’ Council and General Faculties Council updates to students on issues concerning our faculty. Moreover, I would like to host a Lunch-and-Learn to inform students on what the SU does and how the SU fees are used.

To summarize, what I hope to do for pharmacy students is to provide proper representation, effective advocacy, and enhance engagement between elected bodies and constituents. On March 22nd and 23rd, remember to re-elect Alex Kwan as your SU and GFC Representative for pharmacy.
