Be a part of our new VIP Contest at Room at the Top and Dewey's! For each day you visit one of our bars, you can receive a contest entry!
For the month of January, we will be giving away free visits to Breakout VR, courtesy of Breakout VR.
Please note that if this is your first time entering the contest, you must register here before your entries are eligible to win prizes!
The VIP contest at Room at the Top and Dewey's (the "Contest") is operated by The Students' Union, The University of Alberta (the "UASU"). By entering the Contest, entrants acknowledge that they have read, understood and agreed to be bound by the Contest rules (the "Rules") as outlined below.
The Contest is open to Canadian residents (excluding Quebec) that are 18 years of age or older who have a formal affiliation to the University of Alberta (including students, staff and alumni). The UASU reserves the right to restrict Contest eligibility of UASU employees and their immediate family members. Contest is not valid where prohibited by law.
The Contest runs from October 4, 2016 until April 15, 2017. All valid Contest entries received during this period will be entered into the final prize draw. Additional prize draws ("Additional Draws") of varying time periods will take place throughout the Contest period. Additional Draws will have their own start dates and end dates advertised, with all valid Contest entries received being eligible for such Additional Draws as are active on the date of entry, in addition to the final prize draw.
By registering for and/or entering the Contest, entrants grant the UASU consent to indefinitely retain and use any information collected (including personal information) for the purposes of administering the Contest and for future UASU research and statistical purposes. Information collected will not be shared outside of the UASU except in anonymized formats or as is required under law or regulation.
No purchase is necessary to enter the Contest. To enter, please visit either Room at the Top or Dewey's and ask to speak to a manager. You may also enter by properly completing all fields of the online entry ballot on the Room at the Top or Dewey's websites. There is a limit of one entry per person per day. For entries linked to a specific order, the entry date will be considered to be the order date, and must be submitted within a given period of time after the order as indicated on the submission form. Entry methods are subject to change at any time without notice. All entries become the property of the UASU. Entrants must register for the Contest using the registration form on the Room at the Top or Dewey's websites before their entries will be included in any prize draws.
The UASU reserves the right to disqualify any Contest entries (and any other entries from the same entrant) which, in the sole opinion of the UASU, are incomplete, illegible, inaccurate, irregular, ineligible, unauthorized, have been submitted through unapproved means, or otherwise violate the Rules and/or general principles of the Contest. The UASU takes no responsibility and disclaims any liability for lost, stolen, delayed, damaged, misdirected, ineligible, fraudulent, rejected, late or destroyed entries, entries which are not ultimately received by our system, or for any technological errors with the entry form, the draw software or any other component of the Contest. The UASU is not responsible for typographical errors or for any errors or omissions in advertising or promoting the Contest. The UASU's decisions with respect to the Contest are final and binding.
Winners will be drawn within 14 days of each prize draw's end date, in a manner determined by the UASU. Draws will take place at the date, time and location indicated on Contest advertising. Odds of winning any prize depend on the number of entries received. Entrants selected to win prizes will be notified by email. Before being declared a winner, an entrant must correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question, and must sign a declaration and release form: providing any personal information required to be collected under regulation or law; confirming compliance with all Rules; confirming acceptance of prizes as offered; indemnifying the UASU, its employees and agents with respect to the Contest and its prizes; and providing consent to the UASU and its agents to publish and broadcast the winner's name, picture, voice and statements without charge or further compensation other than the prize offered.
In the event that a selected entrant is not eligible to claim their prize or does not claim their prize within one month of the draw, or is unwilling or unable to comply with the Rules, or any prize notification or prize is returned as undeliverable, that entry will be disqualified and an additional entry may be drawn.
Winners are responsible for the reporting and payment of any applicable taxes on their prize. Winners may waive their right to receive a prize. All prizes are non-transferable, non-exchangeable and non-refundable, have no cash value and must be accepted as awarded.
The UASU reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, modify or suspend the Contest should the security or proper administration of the Contest be compromised, or should forces beyond the UASU's control impact the UASU's ability to operate the Contest. Should an attempt be made to deliberately compromise or undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest, the UASU reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution.
For more information, please contact the UASU at 780-492-4241 or at 2-900 Students' Union Building, 8900 - 114 Street NW, Edmonton, AB, TG6 2J7.
If any provisions of the Rules are held to be invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. The Rules may be modified, without notice, at any time by the UASU. Updated Rules will be posted to this website.
